Print designs using personal printer

You can print your design in a few different ways with your own printer.

Print a design through the Home Page

  1. From the home page, select a single design file.
  2. Open the design’s menu and select
    Use my printer.
  3. Canva starts the print download in the background and shows progress in the docker.
  4. Once the print file is ready, the system print dialog opens on top of the user session.
  5. The user can configure printer settings and select Print.

  2. Press ⌘ Cmd + P (Mac) or Ctrl + P (Windows).
  3. If this is your first time, a prompt appears. Select Use my printer to print on your own printer, or Print with Canva to order professional prints.
  4. Select Continue
  5. Your computer’s print window opens. Choose your printer and adjust settings such as pages, copies, and color.
  6. Select Print.

The first time you use the keyboard shortcut, you’ll see a prompt asking how you’d like to print.

  •  Use my printer: Send your design to your connected home or office printer.
  •  Print with Canva: Opens Canva's professional print service. You can order high-quality printed products delivered to you.

You can set either option as your default for future prints.

If you prefer, you can download your design as a PDF Print (Canva's high-quality print-ready format) and print it using your computer or device's print options.

Review printing tips and limitations

  • For best results, print one design type (with the same dimensions) at a time. For documents, make sure to set your page size in the File menu before printing.
  • Not all home printers support features like full bleeds or crop marks. Check your printer model to see what it can handle.
  • When designing for print, we suggest using CMYK colors to help ensure your design is printer-friendly.
  • Mobile app printing requires a printer that’s set up on your mobile device (for example, connected to the same printer network or connected via Bluetooth, depending on your printer).
  • Blended designs (designs with different page types, like docs and presentations combined) may not scale correctly when printed from the desktop app. For best results, print these designs from a web browser or download as a PDF.
  • When printing from the Home page, users can print a single design file by opening the design’s menu, similar to the download flow. Printing from the Home page doesn’t support files or media, bulk actions, or Print with Canva.

Use my printer isn’t available from Home page

What can cause this

You can print only one Canva design at a time from the home page. Printing uploaded files or media, printing multiple designs at once, and using Print with Canva directly from the home page aren’t supported.

What to do

  1. Make sure you’re on the home page and have selected only one design.
  2. If you selected multiple items, select just one design and try again.
  3. Check that the selected item is a Canva design. Files and media uploads can’t be printed directly from the home page.

Use my printer through Home page behaves like a download. Canva prepares the print file, shows progress, then opens the system print dialog.

Can I print from mobile web?

No. Use my printer isn’t supported on mobile web browsers. To print from a mobile device, use the Canva mobile app or download your design as a PDF and print from your device.

How does Canva prepare my design for printing?

Canva automatically prepares your design for printing. You don't need to choose a file type. For best results, make sure your design uses clear, sharp images.
